Four Tips for the perfect at home IPL hair removal session

1. Spot test

If It’s your first time using one of our IPL hair removal handsets, make sure you complete a spot test on each area that you’ll be targeting at least 48 hours before you complete a full IPL hair removal treatment.

This will help you determine how suitable your skin is to IPL hair removal and which intensity level is best to use for each area.

Also, make sure to thoroughly read through the User Guide before starting your sessions. We also recommend you take a look at the Skin and Hair Table to see what your recommended intensity level is!

2. Shave

Make sure the area you will be treating is shaved, clean, dry, and doesn’t have any left over residue from your day. This includes lotion, deodorant, creams - anything that will act as a barrier.

This is a critical step in achieving the best possible results from your IPL handset, as any barriers create less distance between the IPL and the root of your hair follicle.

3. Press the light window flat

In order for the IPL hair removal handset to flash correctly, the light window must be covered and pressed completely flat on the surface of your skin.

This is also a safety precaution to make sure your handset does not flash at random.

4. Be consistent

Complete one IPL hair removal session per week for 12 weeks to see full results. This works for most Happy Skin Co customers, however it’s okay to adjust depending on how your sessions are going.

After the 12-week period, to maintain smooth and hairless skin, continue completing one IPL hair removal session every few months.
